Casas de famosos: David Hasselhoff

No es un secreto para nadie que el vigilante de la playa más famoso anda de capa caída últimamente. Así pues, David Hasselhoff ha decidido vender su casa en California, circunstancia que hemos aprovechado en Decoesfera para colarnos en lo que ha sido su hogar los últimos años. Si alguno está interesado, la mansión, de más de 800 metros cuadrados, está tasada en cerca de cuatro millones de euros y tiene cinco dormitorios y cinco cuartos de baño.
Empezamos por el salón que vemos a la entrada y que pueden observar bajo estas líneas. El hall se abre a un salón que consta básicamente de una zona de tertulia delimitada por varios sillones y sofás. Me gusta el ventanal que vemos al frente y que ocupa dos plantas, sobre las que se asoma una baranda desde la que se atisba el piso superior. El estilo es bastante sobrio aunque los muebles son muy señoriales, con el sofá de cuero y la gran lámpara de cristales que hay en el techo.

Me gusta el uso del suelo de madera, en esta ocasión sin alfombras, que hemos visto tantas veces en otras casas. Yo este salón lo veo para hacer grandes fiestas una vez retirados los muebles.

Sobre estas líneas, tenemos el comedor de David Hasselhoff, formado por una gran mesa rodeada de recias sillas. De nuevo, cabría destacar la sobriedad de esta estancia. La lámpara del techo es como la que podríamos tener cualquiera de nosotros en nuestra casa, así como los apliques (que en este caso no me gustan ni un pelo).

La cocina es una de las estancias que más me gustan de esta mansión. Es muy amplia, con los suelos de terracota, y tiene una isla central donde elaborar la comida. Está separada del segundo comedor con una barra americana y tiene los muebles de madera clara, que, si bien no son la última moda, a mí me gustan un montón. Un detalle que veis aquí y que vais a ver en el resto de la casa es que no hay lámparas, los focos están incrustados en el techo. Esta solución para iluminar la casa no me acaba de convencer ya que no permite matizar la luz y hace que los espacios sean demasiado uniformes.

El dormitorio del ex vigilante de la playa continúa con el estilo marcado en el resto de la casa. En esta ocasión, los suelos son oscuros pero la verdad es que no vemos muchos más adornos. Una vez más, vemos el ventanal al que se abre la habitación, que consta de una cama, dos mesillas y un rinconcito de tertulia en tonos oscuros.

Trucos para desatorar el lavabo

A mí me sucede con frecuencia el que se me atasque el lavabo. Lo hablé con un fontanero y me dijo que no sólo era porque se me cae mucho el pelo (y dentro del lavabo más pelo del que yo querría, inexplicablemente), sino que además mis tuberías eran demasiado antiguas y propensas a atascarse.



Me hizo dos recomendaciones: por un lado, que al menos una vez al mes le echara un poco de Cillit Bang, lo dejara toda la noche y por la mañana le echara agua caliente para que se fueran los restos, pero también me dio otro truco casero y muy económico. Lo único que hace falta es bicarbonato, vinagre y un poco de paciencia (ojo que este truco no vale para atascos de pelos como era mi caso).

En primer lugar, hay que secar el lavabo con un trapo y a continuación verter como medio vaso de bicarbonato por el desagüe procurando que caiga todo dentro. Ahora hay que echar otra media taza de vinagre blanco, con lo que dará lugar a una reacción química que parecerá como efervescente. Dejarlo durante un minuto o dos.


A continuación, verter un litro de agua hirviendo (os recomiendo hacerlo en un hervidor o una tetera para transportarla sin peligro de la cocina al baño). Cuando se haya acabado, comprobar si este truco funciona.

Many art deco skyscrapers have been torn down but they can still serve as an amazing example of the power and majesty of this design style.

Art deco uses very strong, sharp angles in its application. Thick metal groves inlaid with heavy concrete and full bodied foundations characterize this style of design. When using it within the confides of your home or office building, keep in mind the effect you wish to portray with not only walls but the furniture as well. Because of both the Aztec and Egyptian influences, there is also a heavily pyramidal feeling to a lot of art deco buildings. A gradual step by step lessening of form can give the impression of strength and endurance. This was a great reason why art deco was so popular during the Great Depression. Today it can still have the same kind of impact.

Pasos para empapelar una pared

Si piensas colocar papel pintado en el cuarto de tus niños o en cualquier otra estancia de tu hogar, y quieres hacerlo tú misma, aquí tienes los pasos necesarios.
1. Para calcular cuántos rollos necesitas, tienes que dividir el perímetro de la habitación por el ancho del rollo; así sabrás el número de tiras que necesitas. Después, divide la longitud del rollo por la altura de la pared y lograrás el número de tiras que salen por cada rollo (añade 10 cm más por cada lado si el papel tiene un estampado que coordinar). Finalmente, divide la primera cifra por la segunda y sabrás cuántos rollos necesitas. Siempre es conveniente que sobre un poco de papel. Guárdalo enrollado y tumbado para que no se estropee.

2. Quita el polvo de la pared con detergente suave y aclara con agua y lejía diluida. Protege el suelo con papel.

3. Arregla los desperfectos de la pared con masilla y espera a que se seque.

4. Para cortar la primera tira, mide y marca la altura de la pared más 4 cm. Corta el papel con ayuda de un cúter.

5. Para la segunda tira, haz coincidir el dibujo desde la parte de arriba y corta las demás tiras como la primera.

6. Prepara la cola con agua templada en la proporción que marque el fabricante. Aplica generosamente la cola a la tira de papel con una brocha para empapelar. Deja el papel mojándose.

7. En la primera y última tira que pegues, los dibujos no coincidirán perfectamente. Para que no se note mucho, empieza a empapelar en la mitad de la pared y trabaja alrededor de la habitación en cada dirección, acabando siempre en las esquinas.

A la hora de empapelar la pared siempre existe el riesgo de que en la superficie se formen largos pliegues y burbujas, que impiden un acabado perfecto. Para corregir esto, inyecta la cola de empapelar bajo el papel con la ayuda de una jeringuilla, luego es conveniente esperar unos minutos para que el adhesivo penetre tras la tira, y después presionar sobre la burbuja para eliminarla definitivamente.

Otra opción es realizar un corte en forma de cruz sobre la burbuja. Luego doblar los bordes hacia fuera, aplicar sobre ellos el adhesivo y volver a colocar las pestañas en su sitio. También será aconsejable apretar para asegurarse de que el papel definitivamente agarra.

Como puedes ver, no es difícil, aunque es más fácil colocar un papel liso que uno estampado, ya que tienen que coincidir los dibujos. Además, hay que tener en cuenta que si las paredes son lisas, sirve cualquier tipo de papel; pero si son irregulares o tienen gotelé y no quieres lijarlas y emplastecerlas, puedes usar papel espumante, que es más grueso y flexible, con relieve o estampado.
